Work hard, play hard

Work hard – what have we done so far in Finland? After we have joined up in our teams, we got to work right away.

First step was to inform us about the companies we were about to work for. Cool thing was that we could choose working in different location on the campus site.

Library of  Lappeenranta University of Technology

The library, several Cafés or just super cosy armchairs in quite fancy project class rooms.

Frequently, we shared the current state of affaires with our lecturer and fellow students. Receiving feedback and continuously optimizing our plans on the project.

Dinner was served at one of the five restaurants on the campus site. Afterwards we enjoyed our break outside. Highlight was the nearby Lake. Fun fact – It is quite common in Finland for universities to have their own Sauna. Which we definitely will give a try on our last day. Thats for sure.

After we did manage to set up our first drafts for our project plans, we drove back to town by bus. The day before, we had discovered a nice sushi restaurant – Dominos, which we’d like to try. Star of the menu was chocolate sushi!!

Play hard – Well, one does work hard, one can party hard as well. Be sure, we definitely didn’t miss out that part. On the top floor in our hotel we got our little project ongoing 😉

Best Part, at that very evening the finish students invited us to their party. Lappeenranta is not as big as a city as Würzburg is, so there aren’t many parties.  As a result, the chance of finding a club is not that high. Anyhow, the local club – Amarillo – had quite some music to play, like ‚classy‘ finish songs as well as normal charts. At the same time, there were some funny engagements and conversations with the local finish students.

We are back!

Our journey started this morning at 6am – with taking the train from Wuerzburg to Frankfurt Airport to take the plane to get to Helsinki. On board this time are 15 students. We are very excited about what is coming up and can’t wait to share what we are up to!
Stay tuned. It’s gonna be legen – wait for it … dary. #DELFIN2018

Final presentations

Thanks to all students for the creative, interesting and informative presentations on the last day of the DelFin project. And also a huge thaaaanks to the participating companys mytheresa and Wegmann Automotive, Kägöne and Rautjärvi! It was a pleasure for us to work with you!

The Würzburg Rallye

The first afternoon all student teams did a rallye prepared by Kevin – a student of the german team – thanks to Kevin by the way 😉 They had to pass 6 sightseeing points and take team photos in each. Furthermore their competition was to buy something as heavy as possible with budget of 50 cents AND get something as valuable as possible by changing paper tissue for something better without any money.
The team „Rautjärvi“ won the challenge by getting the heaviest object (5 litres of water + pack) and ending up with volleyball instead of a paper tissue.

Arriving in Würzburg

„We arrived in Würzburg through windy weathers from snowy Finland late on Monday evening. Trip was surprisingly long including 3 trains, 2 busses and 1 airplane. Vietnamese students were positively surprised that in Germany you can buy food from the streets including breakfast. “In Finland it is only trees”. True.“

Welcome to Würzburg

We are very happy to welcome the finish students and lecturers of our Delfin project in germany. As scheduled we work together today and tomorrow and prepare the final presentations for thursday 13:30 pm. As these are public presentations, company and university members  as well as interested students are invited to join us.

Kittos and Goodbye Finland

We had three unforgetable days in Finland. This is our german-finish Group. We look forward to meet each other again in December in Würzburg to finalize the projects, work together at our university and have some unforgetable days and evenings as well! CU soon and thanks for the organization to our finish collegues!
